TEST PAPER BAG
BAG is handmade using a semi thick, lighter pigmented material that feels and resembles skin. BAG is designed with an additional weight on only one shoulder whilst remaining light on the other shoulder, which adds another layer of meaning. The semi-thickness of the material represents the thick skin needed to face society's pressures and challenges, whilst the light weight of the other shoulder represents the privileges allowed for those who benefit from colourism. Through the story woven into its very fabric, BAG is designed to form part of the story behind (SKIN)STALLATIONS.
BAG.
The name derives from the infamous 'Brown Paper Bag Test', a practice used to measure an individual's skin tone compared to the colour of a Brown Paper Bag.
